Artist Statement: At the present time, I exist between two distinctive cultures: the one in my career field of advertising, and the one found on the Internet where I practice my art. I use found images to allegorically enact personal memories, experiences, ideas and cultural contact. I create these images by juxtaposing, layering and distorting isolated elements and images into one cohesive work. In creating my art, I explore the internal tension between my inherent perfectionism and my growing appreciation for Internet culture–inspired design by amalgamating different media, modes of representation, and images. The physical process of making and repeatedly defacing a work to create a perfect flaw becomes a performance in itself. I am most interested in polarization and the relationship between both like, and opposite images, objects, places and ideas.
