Bio: Julia Barbee had a wearable, sculptural line in Portland, Oregon for 10 years before completing her formal education. Since earning her MFA in Fiber Sculpture in 2011, she has done ephemeral, scent-based performances and installations in New York, Tacoma, Los Angeles, Portland, and most recently in collaboration with her husband, Matt Suplee, as Souvenir collab with High Desert Test Sites in Joshua Tree, California. Artist Statement: I use scent, sculpture, digital imagery, and interaction through social media as the platform for molecular experimentation, quasi-anthropological study and performance, resulting in visceral, non-representational self-portraiture.
