Bio: Emily Smith is a Northwest native who grew up putting zines together in her bedroom and dreaming about starting a real publication. After 10 years spent living and working in New York City, where the idea for Pacific Standard was born, she moved to Seattle and in 2012 published the magazine’s first issue with her co-creative and editorial director, Strath Shepard.
Artist’s Statement: I am interested in exploring and representing the juxtaposition of civilization and wilderness that has always been such a raw and powerful source of creative inspiration in the Northwest.
